Inserting Contact Lenses:
Clean Hands:Before touching your contact lenses, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water. Dry them with a clean, lint-free towel.
Prepare the Lens:Place the lens on the tip of your index finger, ensuring it's centred and not inside-out. A bowl-shaped lens indicates it's correctly oriented.
Hold Open Your Eye:Use your other hand's fingers to hold your upper eyelid open. Steadily pull down your lower eyelid with your middle or ring finger.
Insert the Lens:Gently place the lens onto your eye’s-coloured part. Look straight ahead and release your eyelids slowly, allowing the lens to settle in place.
Blink and Adjust:Blink a few times to help the lens centre on your eye. If it feels uncomfortable or off-centre, gently close your eye, slide the lens with your finger, and reopen.
Removing Contact Lenses:
Wash Hands: Once again, wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
Look Up: Look up and pull down your lower eyelid to access the lens.
Pinch and Remove: Use your index finger and thumb to gently pinch the lens and remove it. Avoid pinching too hard to prevent damaging the lens.
Clean and Store: Clean the lens with the recommended solution and place it in the lens case filled with fresh solution. Ensure the lens is fully submerged.
Caring for Contact Lenses:
Use Recommended Solution: Only use the solution recommended by your eye care professional for cleaning, disinfecting, and storing your lenses.
Avoid Water: Never use tap water, saliva, or any homemade solutions to clean or store your lenses. Water can contain harmful microorganisms that may cause eye infections.
Regular Cleaning: Rub and rinse your lenses with the solution, even if labelled "no-rub," to remove debris, protein deposits, and bacteria.
Replace as Instructed: Follow the prescribed replacement schedule for your lenses. Overwearing lenses can lead to discomfort, reduced oxygen supply to the eyes, and increased risk of infections.
Regular Eye Exams: Schedule regular eye exams to monitor your eye health, ensure your prescription is up-to-date, and receive guidance on your contact lens usage.
